was not asked this question at any of my interviews.

Why am i asking this? Just want to make sure the things that i am going to anwser this questions with are going to be adequte and not the "wrong" thing to say.

I have a very medically related background is why i strongly feel i will be asked this.

I was asked this question. Just tell them why you are interested in dentistry. You've had experiance in the medical field...and I assume you've had some in dentistry...why do you like one over the other. Thats all. None of the questions interviewers ask are meant to trip you up, nor do you have to be eloquent in your answer. Can you hold a conversation easily, thats all they want to know. Just let it flow baby!

I was asked this question at an interview... and I told them how I felt about my experiences working at a hospital and working at a dental clinic... the interviewer seemed pretty satisfied. Just be honest.
