I was wondering if anyone has been directly told by an admissions committee member why some schools don't tell u your position on a waitlist. One school i'm waiting for wouldn't even tell me the size of their wait-list. What's the logic behind keeping us ignorant?

I don't know either man. I just called a school I'm waitlisted at and they gave me this vague answer as to what my position is on the list.

Perhaps Medical schools feed on our fear, anxiety and self-loathing.

Maybe the person you call genuinely doesn't know. Either that or they don't really have a ranking for you, some schools look over the entire pile each time an opening comes up. (Or so they say....)
