Curious, can anyone fill me in on why Chicago Medical School is on probation? And is this effecting anyone's intent on attending school there in the Fall?

yup. it definately affected my decision. when tulane called, i jumped at the opportunity! Apparently being granted accreditation with probationary status is not as alarming as it sounds. They give you two years to clean up your act and then they do another site visit at which time you will most likely be granted full accreditation. It seems with CMS that their main problem was that the LCME wanted to see them rely less on tuition for revenue; have more funded research; and there were significant leadership/infrastructural problems. All in all, I still had my worries despite the letter their PR folks sent to incoming students to smoothe things over.

From what I've heard the probation isn't the worst thing in the world. As soon as I got another acceptance I jumped ship though. Knowing me, the probation would be in the back of my mind stressing me out during my time at RF...

What's the reason for probation? And is anything fundamentally different at the school if it's on probation?

The students I've spoken with at the school say it's business as usual there. So i'm guessing the ships still runnin'...

I heard of Temple being on probation not too long ago. It was for having old or inadequate facilities. Temple is off of probation now.
