This is probably a stupid question, but I thought that admissions to most medical schools is rolling. So, why is everyone so excited about October 15th?

Because we have already interviewed and that is the first day they can give us acceptances!

It's the first date that schools are permitted to offer acceptances (to non-early applicants). So all those folks who were really early and got early interviews are getting ready for their likely acceptances.
