Why is Howard univ. GPA low ??

why so low ? does that mean its the easiest school to get into ?

Howard's GPA is low because it accepts high amounts of URMs (under represented minorities) who generally perform worse than other ethnicity's. The reasoning behind this is because, in general, URM's haven't gotten the same opportunities as non-URM's like tutoring, good public education, help for standardized tests, ect. It's not really the best way to fix the problem of unequal education but it's what we have.

They do this so that URM's who become physicians, dentists, ect go back into their communities after they graduate and serve as "role model" to show that URM's are capable of obtaining good jobs and being beneficial/productive members of society.
Personally, I think that's a load of crap because we all know that when anyone of us get's their first $100,000 associateship after dental school...we're all gonna buy a sports car and move to the suburbs. 😀

is it fair that a black guy w/ a 2.9 and 17 DAT can become a dentists through schools like Howard while the white kid with 3.3/19 get's rejected?....no, but it's the best we have until the education is equal around America.

from what I understand, they accept mostly URMs (or at least mostly URM's matriculate)

I always thought like this...

there r many black ppl in the country, yet % of black physicians/dentists r much lower compared to other ethnicities. I have yet to encounter a black dentist in my life and maybe like 1-2 black physicians...

i'm sure many would love to see black Drs more than other races. lol =P

Whites; no. Asians and other Non-African American ethnicities; few.

Did you also know that last year, AT Stills average gpa for admission was a 3.3, USC was a 3.2, Boston was a 3.3, and Western was a 3.3...guess you didn't want to mention them huh.

Stop trying to point the finger at Howard as if they haven't been doing this for over 100 years. Get over it!

@michi here is what I found on the web regarding the race mix for their current 2009 class:

Applicants:

I know that numbers don't add up to total of 80 but that is what I found here
