Why is the Si-O bond stronger than C-C bond?

They are both network covalent bonds (silicon and diamond). Is the Si-O bond stronger because of the greater electronegative difference between the two?

Yes, C-C bond has no polarity since the two carbons have the same electronegativity while Si-O bond is slightly polar.
