I am studying gi and i just thought for the first time, why is the spleen drain into portal circulation? i dont recall this issue every being addressed, i mean every other flow into the liver makes sense but why the spleen. Is it something to do with the benefit of low pressure giving the spleen more time to sift/filter blood or something who knows. not a highyield question but just curious
