Why won't AMCAS let you be put on hold?

I called today at 9:10. How could it be so busy that I couldn't even be put on hold? I haven't been able to get ahold of them for the last couple weeks via email or phone. It sometimes feels like they have a total of 5 staffers sorting through the needs of the entire country...

while working from home and dealing with dependents who are also at home. Have some compassion. Ask your question here or in the confidential forum.

Well, that was my question. Why does AMCAS not have a hold system? Especially for when they just start to open?

And I get it. There's a lot of things going on right now so I'm not mad or anything, but I think I speak for a lot of applicants when I think that a little more transparency and communication would be appreciated.

I'd guess that the workers have forwarded their line to their cell phone or home phone. They may not have the capacity to bounce a call to a hold. We are living through an unprecidented time... when I walked out of my office 10 or 11 weeks ago, everyone expected that we'd be home for 2 weeks. I thought it might be two months. Here we are on June 1 with no date yet as to when we'll resume the usual 40 hour week at our work stations/desks. it is reasonable to fret... try to imagine the situation from the other side. Here's a challenging problem How will you find a solution?
