Hi,
I need help in this question from the release exam 2006

Rough pneumococci that are grown in the presence of DNA from smooth pneumococci develop capsules. This process is termed
translation.
transduction. (ans)
transformation.
conjugation.

Why not transformation? The question did not mention anything about plasmid or bacteriophage and I chose transformation as the answer. Explanation please. Hope I will not get these kind of questions in the exam :xf:. Which bothers me is that I think I know and understand all the answer choices yet I got it wrong.
