Hi guys,

I just got my AMCAS application verified and my stats are as follows:

Undergrad BCPM: 2.5

Undergrad Cumulative: 2.78

Undergrad Senior year: 3.6 (strong upward grade trend)

SMP: 3.50

I will be sitting for the MCAT on Saturday and my FL scores are as follows:

AAMC FL1: 515 (131, 128, 128, 128)

AAMC FL2: 513 (130, 126, 129, 128)

AAMC FL3: 513 (128, 128, 129, 128)

AAMC FL4: 515 (129, 129, 128, 129)

Do you guys think I have a decent shot at low-tier medical schools given my upward grade trend? Or should I just strictly apply to D.O. schools? I have great clinical experience and decent exposure to research.

GPAs are probably too low for MD even with a solid MCAT. You'd want to look into a postbacc to raise your sGPA to a 3.0 to beat the screens as well as an SMP

Come back when you have a real MCAT score and then we can advise.

Thank you for your reply. If I was to land the average of my AAMC FL scores (514), would you say I have a shot?
Just realized your undergrad GPA. I'd say you'd probably have to apply to some DO schools even with a great MCAT. Your SMP might help at some MD schools, but not many.
