Hi,

I am a post-bacc student and this summer semester is my last sem, and my summer grades come out around Aug 18th. I am taking the August 16th MCAT. So my question is, is it going to be too late to send in my transcripts to AAMCAS around Aug 18th? I don't want to send them in without my summer semester grades 'cause my cumulative gpa won't look high enough.

Any suggestions? Please help

Thanks

It should not be too late. Your app will not be ready to be forwarded to the med schools until the MCAT scores arrive, which is early October. AMCAS should easily process the transcript until early October.
I took the August MCAT last year. That will be the limiting factor for your application. Last year I was able to file before OCtober 15 (deadline for some schools), but it was really close.

Thanks, I really appreciate the reply, but I heard aamcas takes 6-8 weeks to process and verify the transcripts. IS THAT TRUE?

mosfet,

I am in the same app cycle and taking the august MCAT, but fortunately, no classes. I have heard varying estimates of time, typically about a month after you hit send and the app is distributed.

I think most would agree to get it done asap so the only remaining item is the score report. Some schools may start working your file prior to score reports if it has been sent.

I have partially completed my app but already have all of my transcripts received by AMCAS and TMDSAS. Received and verified are two different things, but I have heard horror stories of AMCAS losing transcripts.

Bottom line....the sooner the better.
