I was wondering will someone ever ask what your USMLE scores are after you have gotten into the program. Will your PD mysteriously just come oneday and ask you what you got, will the fellowships care how well you did on your USMLEs or will the RRC and ACGME ever ask for your USMLE transcript. Basically will someone ever ask for your USMLE scores ever again. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure your scores are requested when applying for fellowships, although I don't think they carry as much weight as they do for getting into residency. Research, publications, and LORs matter more as I understand it.

Uhh, licensing?

I was under the impression that Step 2 was very important in terms of fellowships.

why would a test you took in med school (step 2) have a big factor for fellowship placement?? From what I have observed through residency, the factors that are going to have an importance on gaining a fellowship spot are: research/publications, excellent letters of recommendation, who you know, who the people who you know know (putting in a word for you at other programs)... 🙂 I seriously doubt most fellowship programs care what you got on your USMLE tests.

You have to have your scores sent to the state board for licensing.
