Hi everyone! Finally decided to join in here. I'm quite worried. I have a D in General Biology I. I'm not blaming anyone besides myself.

If I apply for the fall 2014 would that be down frowned upon by the admissions team and hurt my chances with acceptance? I was planning on retaking the course, but it's not offered until the fall again. The course is only 6 weeks so by September my grade will be posted.

Any bad grades will be "down frowned upon" but your application is about the total package. What else do you offer that might be "up smiled upon"?

Yes, it will decrease your chances. However, you can make up for it by making an A in the retake and trying to make A's in other pre-reqs.

Also study well for the PCAT, as a high PCAT score can offset a lower GPA.

Get expereince in a Pharmacy. Because it looks good and to be sure you actually will like working in a pharmacy.

I'm a bit downing myself, I think.

I graduated with a BA just last year. Like 4 of my classes I took for electives (no joke are pharmacy pre-reqs) but had no idea at the time because small school, not many classes are offered. So I failed or got D's in them by not showing up to class... I'm smart.

I have quite a lot of community events I've participated in like helping with a nursing home in the area, Easter egg hunts yearly (bunch of work), president of a club, and a few other clubs I was a member of. I'm how part of another club and helping children after school with their science homework until end of January.

I haven't taken my PCAT, but studying hard for that. And I worked as a pharmacy tech for over 5 years. I'll be going back by August for sure.

Four D's or F's will probably kill your chances for top schools, but from what I've seen on SDN there are schools that accept people with GPAs lower than 3.0 so you still have a shot. Also, I know it seems like a small thing but in your thread title "dismiss" isn't really used correctly, you'll definitely want to clean up those kinds of errors in order to make a better impression as an applicant.
