i am planning to withdraw my application from some schools i've interviewed at and some i haven't. i'm planning to write letters to the schools. is this the right way to do it? and does anybody have any recommendations for what to say in a letter, besides "i'd like to withdraw my app"? thanks for any suggestions!

yeah, i think that's the right thing to do. at least that's what i've done -- sent letters. in terms of what to say, i think the best thing to do is keep it brief and get to the point with a sentence or two. maybe thank them for their time, and then withdraw. no need for anything fancy now -- who cares what you say at this point, right?

I just sent emails. It worked fine.

Yep. Send the letter to the admissions office and thank them for their consideration. Withdrawing this early in the game is really a civic service to your fellow applicants. I'm assuming that you've been accepted somewhere - congrats!

Cheers,
