Does anyone have a nice formate that I can follow....I feel so BAAAAAAAD...I want to withdraw from couple of schools I've been accepted to, but don't know how to sound so sincere and kind....

Just include that you would like to thank the adcom committee for selecting you, and that due to circumstances, you will be unable to attend. So you would like to withdraw and close your file.

BTW.....thanks for withdrawing. I too have withdrawn from certain schools I wouldn't go to. I figure, what's the use of me holding onto a spot that someone else would love to have. It is the right thing to do. Hopefully someone else who wants it will get that spot.

Thank you to anyone who has withdrawn an acceptance! It is much appreciated 😀 😀 😀

Here's my letter:

"Hi XXX adcom. I was recently accepted to XXX medical school. Unfortunately, I would like to withdraw my application. My name is Scooby Doo and my amcas ID number is XXXXXXXXX.

My deposit can be refunded to:

Scooby Doo
21 Mystery Lane
Mysterious County, PA 696969

Thank you,

Scooby "

MEDSCHOOL....BOOYAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's it baby !

I don't think you should worry about being overly kind and sincere. Nobody is going to take your withdrawal personally. Just be straightforward and polite. Chances are they'll be grateful for your advance notice more than anything else.

Here is mine:

Dear Admissions Committee members,

I wish to decline my position in the class of 2006. Thank you again for the opportunity to attend your school.

Sincerely,

Watcha-

I don't think you're making a mountain out of a molehill. I had a really hard time writing my withdraw letters. I put something in my letters to the extent of feeling honored that they considered me deserving of a place in their first-year class.

I did not feel the necessity to be nice or anything like that. I just told them Thank you but I have to decline their offer of admission. Please, they have like how many other people who would like that spot? Good Scooby, remind them of where to send the deposit! Oh, I withdrew from Downstate and NYU.

I cant wait until I write my withdraw letters:

Dear Members of the Admissions Committee;

I regret to inform you that my application should no longer be under consideration. This does not reflect that I feel that your medical school is unqualified in training individuals to become excellent physicians, it simply reflects the intense competition in gaining my matriculation. Out of the 125 medical schools in the nation, unfortunately, I can only attend one. Although the selection in so large, please be assured that your school has been given adequate consideration.

I am sure that your institution will succeed in training those bound for field of medicine. I appreciate your interest in me and wish your medical school well in its future endeavors.

Sincerely,

-me

This would be more appropriate to schools that havent gotten back to you about an interview (or waitlisted you although you are more than qualified to attend) than the ones that have already accepted you..... but it would be fun either way.

I had two letters for withdrals. One prior to an interview and one after an acceptance. The following are what I wrote:

Pre-interview
Dear X University Admissions Committee,

Thank you for the time and energy with which you evaluated my credentials. At this time, I wish to decline my interview on (date) and formally withdraw my application from your school.

Good luck with recruiting your incoming class!

Sincerely,

Dr. Kermit

Post-acceptance
Dear X University Admissions Committee,

Thank you for the time and energy with which you evaluated my credentials. At this time, I wish to decline my seat for the Class of 2006 and formally withdraw my acceptance from your school. I hope this seat will be afforded to another qualified applicant

Good luck with recruiting your incoming class.

Thank you again for the opportunity to attend your school.
