I'm starting to withdraw from several schools in which I am no longer interested. I'm also sending withdrawal emails to schools I've been rejected from, just for sh*ts and giggles. I think if they've had the opportunity to reject me post-secondary, I should at least be able to return the favor and reject them post-acceptance. Who's with me? 😀

I'm writing withdrawal letters using a rejection letter as a template.

"Thank you so much for considering me for your doctor of medicine program. Unfortunately, I will be withdrawing my application from your school. This is not a negative reflection on your school, faculty, students, or staff. Rather, this is a reflection of the high level of interests other schools have had in my application. I applied to X schools, but can only attend one. I wish you the best of luck in filling your class with other well qualified applicants and in all of your institutions future endeavors."

It feels so good...

WOW!!! All I have to say is

This is a fantastic idea! I've already sent out all of my withdrawal letters but I was rejected post-secondary since my acceptance. Maybe I will send these schools a rejection/withdrawal letter. How funny would it be if we created letterhead that looked like their school seal but said:

"University of RunnerMD School of Medicine"

 j/k....but seriously, I might do your original idea. I think it would be very "therapeutic."

I'm waiting for someone at such schools (Cornell, UChicago, Boston) to reply to my emails with a simple: "WTF?" That would be great.

hi,

I sent out a paragraph that sounded just like yours to Pitt. I really hope you don't mind. Thanks for the great idea! 🙂

You'd be much more likely to get that email if you withdrew from places you never applied. Otherwise they just assume stuff crossed in the mail (the secretaries don't check dates too carefully).
