So it's getting close to decision time, and I realized I don't really have a clue as to how one let's the particular schools know they won't be attending.

Do I just write a letter to said school saying (in more eloquent terms): Thanks, but no thanks. ???

I don't have to inform anyone else like AAMC or something stupid that would screw me up if I didn't do it?

I know this is a simple question, and probably a stupid one, but I only have to write a letter, correct?

Yep, a letter is sufficient. You still have a few months before you have to be down to one acceptance, but it's always nice to let them know as soon as you decide so that you can give someone on the waitlist an earlier acceptance!

Unfortunately, I have until April 15th (which is a Saturday), the school is closed on the 14th ("easter holiday), so I have until the 13th actually...

Which, if my calculations are correct...about 40 days.

when i called schools to see how to withdraw, they all said email.

Except Loyola - they still want a written letter.

My withdrawals read

To Whom it May Concern,

"I [insert name here], AMCAS ID [insert AMCAS ID here], withdraw from the application process at [insert school name here.]"

Thank You,

[insert name here]
