Okay,
So I called AMCAS today and after a hold of about 15 minutes I found out they had received my transcript and application!
ALSO, I asked them when they were planning to start full transmission to the schools and the guy said they started with a few of them yesterday. Now, if we can believe the guy, then FINALLY! However, he seemed a little out of it so I hope he was telling the truth :)
But it looks as if the process is starting!!
That might be a reason for why some of the schools disappeared off the lists yesterday!

I don't think that the disapearring schools has anything to do with AMCAS beginning transmission. I submitted my application very recently, so I'm assuming my application is going to be transmitted later than the people who submitted earlier, and there were some schools removed from my list. I really can't believe this..

I checked my AMCAS application, and I have the same problem (3 schools disappeared). But none of them correlate to the schools that sent secondaries.

I doubt that is why the schools started disappearing but it is possible that b/c they went into the system to start doing things that other bugs that were not seen before were effected.

There is no way that transmission has started!

To Members of Cohort '02:

What follows is the latest e-mail from AMCAS about continuing
problems. You'll note that item number two corresponds to information I
sent to you some time ago. Item number one is potentially serious, and
AMCAS indicates that if you have initiated or filed an app you should be
hearing from them later today.

According to "Spang" who physically visited AMCAS, they haven't done any transmission....

Check out the bottom of that email that carleton colleg kid just posted. There's an email address directly to the director of AMCAS. I'm going to start sending my emails there :) [email protected]

When you e-mail Nancy, could you ask her for a refund? Because the $$$ that I have already spent on AMCAS is not worth it.

What are you talking about Carlton kid...
I read that email and it doesn't say anything about transmission..or maybe I just am reading it correctly!
I am just saying that the guy I talked to on the phone said the TRANSMISSION has started.
Simple. I will believe him for right now so I can go on living a happy life.
Carleton...you didn't say anything about transmission in that email...and that is not the topic of this thread...

Damn, I wrote that right after a nap in lab...my bad..that made no sense.
What I meant to say:
"or maybe I just am reading it INcorrectly!"
and
"you didn't say anything about transmission in that email...and that is THE topic of this thread... "

no, nothing about transmission was said, however one can infer that since AMCAS is still having serious errors no the transmission process has not begun.

If I've learned nothing else from this process, it's that NOTHING can be inferred...

Well we'll just have to see...I don't think that they will delay the process of transmission just because of some errors. If they did that then they would never get our apps to the schools!

I had a conversation with my premed advisor today, and he informed me that:

"As you know, no official transmissions have yet occurred between
AMCAS and med schools, but they do indicate that they will start sending
names and addresses very soon and expect to send the complete files by
early August."

Also, AMCAS would have updated their current website, and informed all applicants when the transmission process trully begins. ;) ;)

Hey since, apps haven't been transmitted, it's not going to hurt us August MCAT Re-takers if we submit it later (1 more week, i hope...) right?

I am just saying what the guy told me.
Why don't you get off your high horse carleton college kid...

I am just sharing information that I know. I don't like when other mislead or don't have their facts straight. I am not fond of horses either.

You are not sharing info that you know.
You are going off presumptions and "inferences" as you stated in your comments.
In the end, the guy said transmission began yesterday. If he was out of his mind, maybe so...I wouldn't put it past the AMCAS "specialists"

where is this "carleton college"??

CC Kid,
I can remain silent no longer! While you're probably right about the transmission thing, you need to relax about your school. I know some Carleton graduates, and you might be suprized to know they do not use the words "national reputation" and "prestigious" in every other sentence. Take a hint (and a chill pill) from them.

Carleton is in Northfield, MN.

I know where Carleton is, I know it's "reputation", and I'm not impressed. I know lots of people who go to Carleton, and I'm not impressed with them either. You don't have to be brilliant to go there, but you do have to have CASH. What this whole "prestiege" aspect of small liberal arts colleges boils down to is marginal at best. Good luck finding adcomm members who have heard of your school. The problem is, even if they have heard of it (like in passing), they probably have no opinion of it either way (unless they went there). So get off it.

PS-Carleton does have great club Ultimate Frisbee. They are nationally known for that.

Um...as an innocent bystander, "Hasn't this gone far enough?" :(

Come on guys, everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. We all think that the undergrad school we attended has a good reputation or else we wouldn't have chosen that particular school. Kapish?
:)

Ka-what?. I don't understand ;)

1)No one is innocent

2) My undergrad school has zero reputation and I went there because my parents made me.
:p
