There seem to be a lot of threads on residents being terminated. I wondered if a resident that was terminated would be able to work as an Assistant Physician and apply for residency again (after several years of experience and training). This is assuming the individual did well working as an Assistant Physician under supervision. I am assuming attendings could write letters of recommendation, etc. I am just curious if that is possible, since there is no way that a non-residency trained doctor could work as a PA.

Is it possible? sure. There's no rule against it.

Is it likely? No. The applicant would be many more years out from their year of graduation by then. And this assistant physician situation is unique to Missouri, so unclear how any program would assess it.
