Does anyone have insight into what it is like working as an Internist in a VA hospital?

Salary?
Time off?
Is there call or is it shift work?

I know they offer 50% of your final year salary after 20 years as retirement, which can't be a bad thing. I also know there is no fear of lawsuits as you are in fact a government employee.

A friend of mine is working for VA hospital in CA and he got 97k/year at entry level, each year the salary is increased a little bit. The cover any insurance and law suit is less likely to happen.

The best thing for VA doctor jobs is less work, you can enjoy your life especially if you have kids, you can do part time jobs also to get extra money.
