Working Locum Tenens

Is it possible to try and find locum tenens work exclusively for one large city i.e. LA/SF for a long period of time and how common is it?I haven't found a post on this in SDN so I'd try to make a thread about it. What are the disadvantages of staying in one place as locum tenens, lower pay/less job opportunities? I would like to stay in one city and would like to choose my own schedule such as working one month on and one month off. Anyone with experience with staying in one particular area doing Locum Tenens full time?
