Hello! I'm waiting to hear back from a few schools that, according to Admit/CycleTrack, have now rejected a large proportion of applicants (50%+) pre-interview.

Is it worth sending a letter of interest in hopes that I can get a last-minute interview, or should I just let nature take its course? Not sure if this means those schools are on the fence about me or if they just send out rejections in random waves.

We can't say for specific schools. Some schools will reject you. Others put you on an interview waitlist/hold (not an immediate rejection, but probably could become one if the school doesn't dip into the interview hold group).

I suppose at this point, you should send update letters regarding coursework or experience hours. There's no guarantee it will help you, but if you aren't the passive type, I'm not sure how I could persuade you to refrain.

Reminds me of an episode of Full House years ago when Kimmy Gibbler stapled a crisp $20 bill to her application to Stanford. I think they sent it back to her though.

If only they sent back my $75 primary fee + $100-ish secondary fee 😔

I did this back in November and ended up getting an invite about 3 weeks later. I made sure to also discuss new activities I had started and updated them on the activities I was still pursuing. I would definitely check to see if the school encourages update/interest letters.

Don't waste their time or yours. They already know that you're interested because you sent them an application.

And admissions Dean's treat these as lies anyway.
