I had a charge for disorderly conduct (a misdemeanor) dropped before it went to trial through a pretrial diversion program. I know some med schools ask about ANY kind of criminal conviction on their secondaries.. Is this something that should be mentioned, even though it was dropped (not a conviction)?

If there is no conviction on your record, you probably shouldnt tell them about it.

A lot of people are charged with crimes. Many are innocent. If charges are dropped or convictions are expunged, in the eyes of the state, at least for purposes of reference, you were never guilty of a crime.

Ok... my understanding of the law is minimal.

Summary. You were charged with a misdemeanor and this charge was dropped. Correct?

If this is the case. Only answer yes to questions specifically dealing with: "Have you ever been charged with a misdemeanor?" You may say no to anything that asks about a conviction. You may say no to anything having remotely to do with a felony.

Most secondaries won't even ask about this.

Unless the question asks if you were charged with a crime, I don't see why you'd mention it.
