I volunteer with the geriatric population and play games/interact with the elderly at a daycare center. They have a mild form of Alzheimers, could I classify this as non-clinical?

When the paid staff at this center refer to the people who are cared for there, what word do they use to label them? Are they patients, clients, guests, customers, visitors, members, friends, seniors??

If they aren't "Patients" then, at least by my definition, it isn't a clinical experience even if the person has a chronic illness.

They do refer to the people cared for as "patients", though sometimes as "seniors" too.

If they are patients, then it is clinical, in my opinion. If they are not in a patient care setting, then it may not be clinical. Do they have a doctor's order regarding the food you may offer them at the center, whether they can walk with or without assistance, etc or is that not dictated by physicians? Do they have a medical record at the facility? That would be another clue that it is a clinical setting.

Those are good suggestions I will look out for, thank you LizzyM!

I ask because I already have an abundance of clinical experiences and was hoping to fill my deficit of nonclinical experiences by volunteering at this location.

If you want to spin it as supervision and social activities for elderly adults, it would not be considered clinical.
