would you have studied differently?

TOTALLY, I would've studied EXACTLY what was on my test!!

seriously, i think EX had me well prepped. i studied hard and followed most of their advice and i think it was worth the $$$.

I would have spent more time cranking out PS passages. I really felt under-prepared for that. I took Kaplan, and consistently scored 9's on the PS sections on their tests. I was somewhat dismayed that over the whole Kaplan course I could'nt manage to signifcantly improve on the practice tests regardless of the amount of studying I did. I also felt like I was between a rock and a hard place all semester as I tried to juggle my courseload and studying for this beast. Oh well, at least its over. God forbid I have to retake it.

I too would have spend more time on PS passages. I really struggled with that section throughout my TPR course and by the end had improved to the 9-10 range but really felt underprepared on the real MCAT passages. I just had a hard time following them and staying focused. I think I should have spent more time memorizing formulas at the beginning, instead of as I went along, and doing a ton of passages. I also wish I had studied the evolutionary biology and fungus stuff a bit more right before the test instead of counting on my background in the subjects from biology classes to carry me through.

I definitely would have attacked my weak areas more. I was extremely weak in Acids/Bases when I started studying for the test. It was the usual, "I hope the next passage isn't about pH/pKa! (gulp)". I got sick of that feeling, so I cracked open my old Gen Chem book and spent like a whole day doing just the problems that freaked me out. Towards the end, I was rocking acid/base passages.

Moral? Really focus on your weak areas. Don't think to yourself, "They'll never ask this on the test". They will. Some dude next to me during the test even said, "I can't believe this is on here!" 🙂 I was cracking up.

The test was pretty rough. So, I might be taking my own advice in August/April. 🙁
