If money wasn't a factor? SF. If you like money, Pittsburgh.

If the goal is to save money, not go into tremendous amounts of debt, and live a comfortable lifestyle: Pitt.

If you are bringing in 1.5+ million...San Fran would afford you a decent lifestyle.

This would more-so be during dental school. So definitely would not be bringing in $1.5M lol.

Haha, I figured!

Do yourself a favor and go to Pitt. You're going to be going into enough debt. Pitt is actually a pretty cool place...and the snow helps to keep you inside where you need to be (studying).

Pittsburgh is a fun, underrated city for 20-somethings.

School aside, SF... Is there even a competition?

One place experiences snow and the other doesn't. Pretty easy

I'm biased because I spent a good chunk of my childhood growing up in the bay area... SF.
It's definitely not as warm as you'd think there, but you can live in affordable places down the BART (bay area rapid transit, like a light rail/trolley/train thru the whole bay) if you don't mind a longish commute everyday.

Honestly I have no idea. Lol that's why I asked the question. I have no experience with either city other than from the time spent there during the interview.

I interviewed at Pitt and have visited SF before. Both are pretty cold and windy cities, but Pittsburgh is definitely cheaper and is also a young city. Where are you from?

Would you be alright with flying to and from school when you wanted to go back home?
With how much work school is gonna be I didn't really anticipate going home too often. Because a 7-8 hour drive isn't super easy either. Honestly I just want to pick the place where I feel happiest and most comfortable but it's hard to choose haha.

Why are people still treating like Pittsburg "cold" is the same as SF "cold"?

It's 25 degree and snowing in Pittsburg right now (with lows tmr at 7 degrees)

It's 60 in SF...

It's just that there is a misconception that since SF is in California that it's rather warm. Generally it's cold compared to other California cities. My old sailing teammates loved going to regattas there since the wind was perfect.
