I'm kind of getting a bit less sure about my application status the further I progress into this process. Here is my situation: I graduated college back in 2001 with a degree in English. GPA cum= 3.72. Science gpa=3.48 MCAT=35
My last science class I took was in the spring of 2000.
Grades:
AP credit in Intro Bio
Genetics: A-
Animal Behavior on a Molecular Level: B
Gen Chem I & II: A and A
Advanced Calc II: B
Orgo I & II: B and a B+
Orgo Lab: A- and A-
Physics I & II: A and B
That's it.
Like I said, it's been some time since I've taken a science course. I took an extra year of undergrad after I graduated, just basically studying things because I wanted to study them and because it was cheap (e.g. art history, history of jazz, French, etc...). Was in law school for a semester. So it's not as if I've been out of academia completely for all that long.
I'm thinking about taking a semester of biochem, maybe an immunology course. Probably something in biology.
My mom is a public teacher, so I get a 25% discount on already cheap in-state tuition. I'm working 30 hours per week plus volunteering (and really can't work full-time because I need some more clinical exposure).
It already stinks because I'm having a hard time finding letters of rec from science professors who knew me (especially tough with intro courses). Some have moved to other schools. Still others I had when i was studying abroad.
In short, this process is rigged against me.
Any suggestions?
