Well guys, if you know me, you know how I've been struggling to stay in Northern California to go to med school to stay close to my friends and family.
I was on two waitlists, and at two darn good schools: UCSF and UC Davis. Time was running out, and at both schools, things looked dim.
So in desperation, I called UC Davis last week, about two weeks before UCLA would start (an AWESOME school, but not for me) so I had to hear something soon.
Terri Hall, the admissions coordinator (GOD bless her) told me the waitlist was unlikely to move before the two weeks were up. I told her I was from Stockton, and how I wanted to be close to home. She said she would she what she could do, but things looked grim.
One week later, Monday, June 7, 2003 at 10:30am, Terri Hall calls and says that I'm in at Davis!!!
Everything happened for me, I'm going to stay close to home, go to an awesome UC school, and be able to follow the best team in the NBA's road to the NBA championship, the Sacramento Kings.
I want to say thanks to all the people who provided words of encouragement: Moskeeto, cbpremed (thank you SO much, it helped...🙂), Nefertari, and all my friends from UCLA that I met at the Drew interview. Thanks guys for being the guys I'd hang with at UCLA.
Thanks guys, and for all those waitlisted, KEEP WAITING! IT CAN, AND *WILL* HAPPEN!
