Writing about high school experience for failure essay

The prompt is essentially: We have all tried something and failed. Describe a situation where you realized you were not up to the task, and what life lesson you learned from the experience.


Would it be okay to talk about auditions for district orchestra in high school? I played violin and tried out for three years in a row and didn't make it each year. I learned not to let failure stop me from continuing to do the things I enjoy. I realized that I wasn't the best violinist, but that didn't stop me from auditioning each year and seeing if I could improve to meet personal goals.

I wasn't sure if talking about a high school experience was a bad idea/if I should try to think of something more recent.
