WSJ: Doctors More Likely to Be Democrats Now...

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
who puts more importance on blind obedience to the leader, irrespective of all the inappropriate doublespeak coming out of his mouth?
If you take the word "inappropriate" out, I would definitely argue Democrats. The word inappropriate kind of reinforces my point tho. Politicians are professionally "appropriate". That's ALL they are. And that's what you're looking for.

no that's wrong because the current president goes above and beyond what a typical politician states, what is normal behavior.

That’s YOUR President....Yw

News cycle should be fun next few days. Communists/socialists are lawyering up.

Hopefully, because politicians especially Democrats are the biggest POS on the planet.

I know of no democrat poliltician that routinely calls a group of people are racists or from a s$)thole country", state someone had "blood coming from her whatever", feel comfortable saying that he can "grab them by their p%##y", visibly mock a disabled reporter, disparage a competitor by saying "look at her face", call a former support a "crazed, crying low life" and "a dog", call women "horseface", "bimbo", "Mrs. Piggy", and tell an audience to "maybe he should have been roughed up" or "knock the crap out of him, will you?"

and worst of all, tell John McCain he was not a war hero and disparage him 7 months after he died of brain cancer.

You are completely making my point. NO professional politician says things like this, repub or dem. They ARE absoluely over the top.

That's why I'm saying you like politicians, because they don't say these crazy, unPC things. I don't know why it's so hard for Dems to admit they like politicians.

Liberals, obviously. They will parrot the party line regardless every week. "Hope and Change" was nothing but doublespeak. As was the keep your doctor lie, "jobs created or saved", claim of transparency when whispering to the Russians about flexibility after the election, and on and on and on. Blind obedience to the leader was the Democrats and Obama hands down. He could do no wrong by you types.

So my take is you don't seem to mind your elected Democrats lying to your face as long as they are polite about it.

It's not bribery. And not remotely illegal. How much does the average indigent person get in food stamps, Medicaid, welfare, etc? I dont love UBI, but if it done in concert with cutting other entitlements, then why not?
Because the entitlements should just be cut without adding something new

And we all know if UBI starts, the other stuff will just come back

I’m with you on him making crazy comments

I’m more offended by people who want to take more of my money, interfere with personal freedom, ban my firearms, take over healthcare etc....but yes, saying crappy insults is also not cool

Take your money? What about you taking other people's money? Did you go to public school, state school? Take out loans? Drive on public roads? Live in a neighborhood with police and fire protection?

You have no problem taking other people's money when it suits your goals but when it comes time to pay it forward, all of a sudden, it becomes your money?

I paid $2100 in taxes for local schools this year. It seems a bit unfair, considering I have no children -- but as a society, we have collectively agreed that it's worth it to improve our communities. The same should apply for things like health care and housing. Elevating our most vulnerable improves health, safety, and prosperity for all of us.

Why do you think it's a revenue problem? I'd prefer we reduce cost drivers & waste: SOS, drug costs, anti-competitive practices, administrative waste, tax exemptions for non-profit hospitals, defensive medicine, etc? A recent JAMA study shows that 1/3 of health care costs are administrative waste.

non sequitur

baron is talking about taxes in general and you go on yet another crusade about SOS differential. is the grass purple in your world?

Could you show me some examples of how Republican leadership has done these things? Genuinely curious, because I haven't seen any data suggesting that healthcare costs are trending down.

I brought up taxes, because the biggest argument against Medicare for All healthcare is that taxes will go up(even though under proposed plans premiums, copays, deductibles, etc. would go down). Our per capita healthcare costs are also astronomical in comparison to those nations with similar systems to those proposed.

Yes, I'm so glad you asked. For the first time I can ever recall, Department of Health and Human Service (ostensibly part of the Deep State) is advancing a set of policies and principles that envision health care reform predicated upon increased competition and choice not consolidation and "government-cheese" style medicine delivered through the post-office:

Also, CMS Administrator Seema Verma, who is very sharp and who's husband is a private practice psychiatrist, has been the tip of the spear in advancing site-neutral payment reform and eliminating SOS--a very inequitable payment loophole that perpetuates a social injustice upon both doctors and payments...

Roads are largely paid for by impact fees and gas taxes (so those who use them pay for them the most which makes sense)

I don’t support required fire dept fees.

Police are paid for by property taxes, they are a bare bones necessary function of govt but it should be a flat fee per resident and not a percentage of property value.

I don’t think we should have public paid schools, particularly past high school. But I certainly pay more than most people.

So yeah, your assumptions don’t work for me

The politics of sdn are such a welcome reprieve from the intolerant hive-mind “progressivism” I’m surrounded by in my real life

Hive mind or just that very commonly people are under financial pressure from medical costs/student loans?

The people forcing their ideology down my throat are actually not my fellow students, but the administrators / higher education faculty that teach our mandatory tangential curriculum and the like

hmm interesting. Any chance you could give an example? Seems kind of inappropriate to be honest.
