Hey SDN'ers,

This may be a stupid question, but I'm a newbie, so take that in mind when reading this question... In any case, here goes: for the first question on the Yale supplementary (the one that asks you to write down the activities and acheivements that you deem most significant from those that you listed on your AMCAS application), are those of you applying simply listing your activities, or writing your activities down in sentence form?

To put that another way, should I just pull out activities (and then demarcate different activities with commas, as in the Columbia app.) or write something like: "An activity that I found most enlightening was when I volunteered for blah hospital in blah capacity..." for each activity?

Any help would be much appreciated! 🙂

Thanks in advance!

I didn't put them in sentence form, just listed them. I figure if I'm choosing the most important off the AMCAS app, then if they're interested they can go back and read my postsecondary experiences descriptions.

But maybe other people are doing it differently...?

I'm definetly doing it in sentence form. I'm going to pick 3 or 4 activities from my AMCAS ones and write a sentence or two about each one. 1000 characters is enough for about 6-7 fat sentences, and i'm going to use that space.

My reasoning: Yale is very competitive, and anything extra I can do to give them a reason to interview me is worth it

I took two experiences and tried to explain why I thought they were important and what I had learned about myself from the experiences. I can't imagine anything you do would be "wrong" exactly, but maybe there are degrees of descriptions. My feeling is that the adcoms are looking at what we write as well as how we write it, so I try and keep that in mind when I do these things.

Sorry, ignore my above post. I was thinking about the Hopkins secondary, which doesn't give you room for a long description.
