Can anyone comment on these two programs? especially are they run and interviewed by the same attendings? thanks

Why do you ask?

The programs ARE NOT run by the same attendings. Why? Because up to half of the Primary Care residency is in Waterbury, CT's hospital (about 40 minutes away from Yale-New Haven).

The medicine dept. is all the same of course. And, during your rotations at New Haven you work just like a member of the "traditional" medicine team.

I talked to some of the Primary Care residents there and they said they didn't perceive any "feelings of unworthiness" when working alongside the traditional residents.

Moreover, fellowship placement was not really hurting for the Primary Care program either.

If you want to work for an underserved population and in more of a community hospital setting as well as the "university" big name of Yale New Haven -- the Primary Care program is good.

My qualm would be whether or not New Haven really qualifies as a powerhouse tertiary care center -- especially when Connecticut residents have both Boston and New York to choose from and New Haven is in a relatively less populated area of the state (and let's not forget that UConn is also going to take away some of the "tertiary" patient care experience).

That being said, the research there is amazing and it seems the Yale name still goes far as the fellowship placements were simply impressive.
