OK, I'm looking for some insights. I'm having trouble picking one of these schools.

From the West Coast, so it will be a long move. One school is in New Haven, CT, the other one happens to be in New Haven, CT. Ivy League is always nice to have too. Yale has an extremely non-competitive atmosphere, but Yale also doesn't have mandatory tests for the first few years.

I'm torn. I'm not sure where to go. I would like to hear your opinions. Serious posters only!

The abundance of school X vs school Y threads are somewhat annoying, but the extreme abundance of "lets make fun of shool X vs school Y threads" is even worse. It is like the cool thing to do now, it isn't enough that there are 200 of the actual threads with real questions but now there are 500 fakes that aren't funny.

aww, the OP was just trying to have a little fun. i think the title of the thread makes it abundantly clear that it's a joke. one could easily avoid having to read it by, say, not clicking on it.

I dunno, I thought it was funny. It's good to laugh at ourselves sometimes.

I flipped a coin, and I think you should go to Yale. Don't be a name-***** and go to Yale just because of its prestige - you'll be surprised what Yale has to offer. Coincidentally, Yale is #9 in the rankings this year. I don't know about the other Yale, but last year it was like #11.

Thanks for the advice, 11 vs. 9, now I'm not a rankings ***** but there is a part of me that wants to shack up with the highest ranked school. Also, name-dropping is incredibly important. But in this case, I've considered going to the 11th ranked school. But I'm so *****-torn.

Sounds like you're just interested in taking the school that has the best reputation (Yale). While I think that's pretty pathetic, I guess you should just call up Yale and rescind your acceptance and go to the more prestigious school.

I really don't want to be pathetic, but it's hard. I mean c'mon. If you get into Yale wouldn't you want to go?

I'll admit, the draw of Yale would be pretty hard to overcome, but I guess it depends where he's most comfortable. The locations ARE pretty similar, but word has it that the environments are really different.

This is too ****ing complicated. I hate myself. I shouldn't have bothered to apply in the first place. Whoever said this "is a great decision to have" doesn't know the hell they are talking about.

Hijacking things, I've been meaning to pick up the new one. Yes, aenima is my favorite album of all time.

Stop whining and withdraw from one. I know several people on the waitlist for Yale and for Yale.

I am secretly on the wait list at yale, so here are some reasons why you should withdraw (because I am a loser tool who cant get in anywhere)... Here are some reasons why Yale is better (so that I can just be a tool and not a loser)

Yep, right here! I have all the albums, I've seen them in concert, etc

I picked up Ten Thousand Days yesterday. To be honest, I have mixed feelings about it. It basically boils down to:

- 1/2 stuff that sounds like leftovers from Lateralus (which is not a terrible thing per se, since that album was very good)
- 1/4 them just being weird
- 1/4 new, decent stuff (for instance, Track 10)

I definitely need to give it some time -- I was uneven about Lateralus at first too but I love that album now. Someone had said that Tool has become formulaic and I'm beginning to agree there, as disappointed as it makes me to admit to that.

Regardless of what I think of the new stuff, I'll still see them in concert whenever they get around to Florida.
