So I got accepted to NYU last month...already sent in my deposit (had to)..but just today I got my acceptance from UDM. I can't decide which would be better. I mean which has a better clinical education? that's the biggest thing for me. Cost doesnt matter much b/c I'm probably going on the AF HPSP. UDM does only have a class of about 80 vs about 230 and it is closer to home (Chi-town born and raised!). They are moving to a brand new facility in 2008...but I still can't make up my mind. I'm on waitlists at other schools that i'd LOVE to hear from (marquette, louisville, creighton)...but I know if i send in my deposit at UDM..that's where i'm going...i can't keep shelling out $1500 to tons of schools haha.....any input would be appreciated!! thanks everyone

If cost isn't an issue I would choose NYU. Just because NY city would be more fun.

The class size is large, so it may be easy to get lost. I would still go to NYU though.

k so I didn't get much of a response with this..so i'll try ONE more time haha

If you can afford NYU such that the debt obtained is equivalent or less than that of a student going to a state school, go to NYU; else, Detroit.

But you said money isn't a problem; thus, NYU.

Youll wish you weren't at NYU when you are at the end of that bell curve just praying you arent another student they kick to the curb.

I don't know much about NYU, but UDM didn't appeal that much to me. Sure you can say it's a plus that they are moving to a new facility. But I think that is more of a downside because you are going to get caught up in the middle of a transitional phase.

Moving a school can't be that easy and I don't think you are going to need any additional confusion/stress tacked on to that first year.

Yea you'll be closer to chicago, but not close enough given how busy you are going to be. You still will only have time to visit over breaks which really wouldn't be any different than NYU aside from paying for flights.

I'm thinking UDM will be better once they get settled in, but that won't start really benefiting D1's until the next batch arrive.

Long post short, I'd go to NYU if I were you. Did you get waitlisted at any IL schools? If so, find out if they rank the waitlist because both schools have some movement.

Good luck.

Well I interviewed at SIU, still haven't heard anything back so i'm assuming waitlist...I didn't hear a damn thing from UIC which kind of irritates me..I got 8 interview (went to 7)..and got nothing from the school about 20 minutes from home. But I hear what you're saying about NYU vs UDM...I really liked NYU, nice facilities, nice faculty..but i'm only hesitant about the size. I have no problem putting myself out there and getting to know people, but sometimes...big can be "too" big. But i can get over that i guess. I guess my MAIN concern is...which school is better clinically?? Which will give you the most exposure to a variety of cases? that's what i'm really after here. Congrats on UIC Chrono...i'm jealous!
