Hi guys and gals,

I have been looking at other threads and ALL I've been hearing is how competitive anesthesiology is going to be for this match.

Seeing as how there hasn't been a post in the Anes thread for over 3 weeks, I thought I would get your thoughts on it?

I personally don't think anesthesiology is going to be as nasty as people think, largely due to the nature of the work and the number of spots, which are increasing.

Does anyone else have any input?

At my school, I know of at least 10 students applying to anesthesiology programs, up from 6 last year. A lot of these people went to anes. by default. Many of them had considered surgery, but didn't like the hours. I don't know how competitive the match will be this year, but I think it will be moreso than last year.
