Hey All,

It seems like FA is very skim and only covers some testable points. What do people who have taken the tests is the best prep for Neuro (and gross)? Would FA and Qbank suffice? And for those that use the ultra-dense high-yield series for these two, did you find a lot of salient points in them to use for the exam? OR was it too much?

Also--HY Micro is pretty good for those of you who don't like ridiculously simple's style.

r u being sarcastic 😀

hy is fine for neuro....

thats my q as well...

i havent touched Neuro/Embryo and was planning on just going off of FA and qbank....would this be enough ? i hated both subjects and nearly Fed both them last year, so it would be nice if all i had to know was what's in those sources.. 😀

thanks 😴

I used a HY gross and Neuro. They are good, but dense so its not light reading despite the fact they are ultra skinny. On the other hand, most of the Qbank questions I got wrong on Gross and Neuro, the answer was in FA. If I had to choose, I would study the **** out of the FA sections for gross and neuro. Im kicking myself now for blowing 4 days on gross/neuro/histo. I could have memorized those sections in FA 3 times over instead.

Legion.

After reading through all of HY Gross (granted haven't gone through FA Gross very much yet), I'm having incredible difficulty with the QBank questions on gross anatomy. Is this normal? These questions are so nitpicky. They are worse than my exams in first semester in terms of knowing nitpicky relationships. Any thoughts?

hey how long are we talking, to go through HY gross? 3-4 days, assuming couple of quick re-runs again? I have been putting it off, cuz I think those questions are such a hit or miss anyways, but I've gotta get busy on it. Thanks

If I were you, I wouldn't spend too much on HY Gross (2 days max) and if you were short in time, skip it do FA and read HY Neuro (2-3 days, depending how much you want to absorb in one pass). HY Neuro is more HY than HY Gross for the USMLE (or so they say).

Hey thanks a lot, man.

I'm in the midst of reviewing HY Gross, and it is a beast. At times, it seems like they skip over the anatomy to cover clinical correlations.

Hey guys, thanks for the review of TB, but can we cover the structure of the lung? I can read Robbins, thanks... 🙄

It was a pretty quick read. I thought it was more of a pathology review than an anatomy text, however. I'm still really confused about gross anatomy. QBank questions are so nitpicky. People say gross is low yield but they are still questions and I'd really like to get them right if I can.

hmm...i still don't know whether i should do HY or kaplan.

I don't know if I learned anything from HY Gross Anatomy, honestly. From other students, I've heard if you spend longer than a day on gross, you're in deep trouble. It's that low yield. I'm hoping Qbank patches up the cracks (deep ones I might add).

i'm in the same crack with you , pox. HY gross was started today and i'm no better off. i hated gross in school and do today as well. my thought is to stick to FA and know everything in there with qbank as "crutches". low yield i hope!

I'm going through HY embryo right now and I think it's really good. It's a quicker read and less dense than HY gross (that was somewhat painful), and throws in a lot of good genetics and path too. I had a very hard time with embryo first year--I think I should have chucked the textbook and just used this.
