Helpful Tutorials

Hey guys,

I have received so much help on these boards so hopefully I can do the same for others.

For those of you entering dental school or like me that are currently applying, this website has tons of videos/tutorials on Anatomy, Immunology, Biochem, etc, that are extremely helpful and have helped a lot of my friends that are in med and dental school right now too.

Just wanted to pass it on to the SDNers.

Thank you sooooo much, I've been looking for tutorials like this for a long time. I'm trying to teach my self these basic stuff before dental school.

Yes! Complement system was my first experience with 'Jeebs'. Like a Chad for med school...in the thickest r-rolled accent ever. The real fun part, is that lymphatics/immunology was covered in two weeks; complement system was one 50-minute lecture. That particular lecturer wasn't my favorite, so I had to go to Jeebs for clarification...and then some...and then some.

Those hand tutorials are good for speedy review. Bookmark them for boards. Like spinal pathways. That was an intense. But the hand tutorials were perfect for a simple review for boards. I ended up not having a single question about them though.

Thanks jeffity! I had no idea he had more videos. I'm definitely going to save them. Do you know of any other websites that are good for the board exams? Or that helped for D1 classes?

Wikipedia and youtube. Ha! I'm kind of serious though. Wikipedia gets down to business. I guess it depends on your curriculum. We do 100% PPT basic sciences. There's not a lot of time to read and all test questions are from PPTs. They have to be. No trick questions that come from another source. So I didn't go to other sources besides wiki and youtube. However, after spending some time with First Aid, I wish I had referenced that during the year. It's not as in-depth as the courses, but it offers a big picture to some topics. It has good charts and tables too.

For NBDE, There are USMLE blog sort of things out there that have good study material. Like this one:

Example of something form there I used for boards instead of making my own:

Mnemonics are good too. Sometimes it's just too much material and a mnemonic is what gets you through a multiple choice question.

Some sample NBDE questions, mostly from old board questions. The benefit of these is that they have a little description with the answers. Like Destroyer. First Aid Q&A does that too, but that's not commonly used as prep material from what I gather.

Anyway, there's a ton of study material out there for NBDE. Decks, First Aid, old exams seem to be the gold standard. My weapon of choice: old exams spending time understanding why answers were correct and why the incorrect were incorrect. Anyway, I've derailed the thread now.

Thank you soooo much jeffity!!!! I really appreciate all the info you shared. I'm creating a file with all the videos plus the websites you shared. If I get into a PBL program I know I need all the help I can get lol.
