Welcome to Part 6! Everyone did a bang up job by hitting 10k in less than 12 days--11 days 19 hours and 18 minutes to be exact. A new record! 😀

For those not familiar with what we do here, Molly has been kind enough to put together a nice description.

Not sure what the Random thread is all about? Well, here's the answer to all your questions.

It's basically a restaurant. That serves breaststicks. And lots of cute fruit and veggies. And is patronized by a HO. And Tucker Carlson. Vin Diesel, too. Lots of race car drivers eat here, as well. We're very well respected by the Amish... one girl in particular is here almost all the time.

The food is great if you're low on iron. It's not on the menu, but you can ask about the special secret garlic cure home recipe. One of the hostesses often makes weather predictions, but she's not always around. I think she has another job with the government. Or a government. Something like that. One of the other hostesses says "Bitch, please," a lot, but she's joking... don't take it personally.

Forget anything you've heard about the girl who died here from arsenic poisoning. That was a long time ago, and she's still alive, anyway... just busy so she doesn't come in as much. Besides, a little arsenic adds a lot of flavor to just about any dish.

Pretty flowers by the entrance, hey? Lilis, they are. Beautiful. And the music is totally hopping... we have our very own DJ. Looks a little like Brad Pitt.

I guess that's pretty much all you need to know. I'm usually in the corner booth over there drinking a nice glass of wine. You're welcome to join me, anytime. We're open 24/7.

Let me get this straight. You have a bottle of wine, but no opener? Not even a Swiss Army knife with one?

OK, not sure how to describe this, but I do have a bottle opener...but I am not strong enough to use it. It's got the part with the coil that screws in, but not the arm like thingies to help lift the cork out. I tried pulling out the cork, but it wouldn't come out. Need big strong man...my roomie isn't stronger than me 🙁

Nah, you could probably do it. You have to attack it at the right angle.

Maybe try to hold to the bottle while your friend pulls the cork out with both hands? It may end in a disaster, though.

Well, I just got the fish smell outta my kitchen...I don't want a smelly kitchen again (but wine smells better than fish)

I'm not, though I wish I were! My parents are cleaning my house. 😳 I feel weird that they are working and I'm sitting here on my butt.

You just missed an amazing TD pass. You will definitely see it on ESPN highlights. 🙂

Snapped ball, hand off by QB, shovel pass to our other player (can't remember right now), lateral pass back to QB, 33yd TD pass to a single man waitng for the TD to be called by the refs. 🙂 Nice trick play.

OMG.....speaking of wine....I have a bottle of red wine here but no cork remover 😱

I'm pretty sure you can do it, it will just take longer.

Update: SUCCESS!!!! I went downtown, but the only places open were a convenience store and the drug store. No corkscrews at either place. (I thought alcohol could be considered a drug...and therefore corkscrews would be sold. No luck).

So, I wedged the bottle of wine between my knees and pulled with all my might. The 'pop' could be heard around the block 😛 The cork was rubber, so it was like pulling a too small rubber stopper out of a flask. The wine company was too damned cheap to use real corks.

New Years? 😕
His friend is probably Jewish. I already posted that today is Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) a few pages ago. 🙂 I went over to a friend's house who is orthodox for lunch, and it was intense, but also very interesting. And the wine was good too!

I only like sweet wine. Luckily for me, Jewish wine and cheap wine tend to be sweet. 😉

What a crap call...there should be 1 second left on the clock.

Not really, football timing is NOTHING like NBA where they have tenths of a second a such. Football is just an estimate. You frequently see the clock run a second or two after a player has a knee down and such. It's based off the whistle, not what actually happens so it has never been accurate.

That's why instant replay was instituted. So they can get the time and spots right too.

Let me put it like this: as a coach, you NEVER tell the player to spike the ball with 2 seconds left once the clock gets restarted. You make a play right then and there. Only spike it with 4 seconds or more left. 3 is pushing it. 2 is stupid.

What if it was really 1.1 seconds? Since they round UP, it reads 2. 1.1 seconds can easily be gone from the time the whistle blows, to the time the center snaps, to the time the qb spikes.

So again, football was NEVER meant to be timed this accurately. 1.1 is rouned up to 2. 1.5 is rounded up to 2. Get what I'm saying now?

When the ball hit the ground, there was 1 on the clock. Blown call no matter which way you cut it. Prolly wouldn't make a difference but officials are always to be criticized.

Depends when the refs blew the whistle. I agree, it should've been reviewd. But the coach in me says that was a ******* move with such little time left.
