Anybody hear anything back yet who interviewed early Oct? From the Acceptance thread it looks like they get back to you pretty quickly...though maybe that's an anomaly? I'm just anxious to find out! 🙂

i interviewed 10/15 and heard back around 11/5. my sense is that they're pretty peppy in responding, too. good luck!🙂

I interviewed at the end of october and heard on 11/23. So It seems as though about 3 weeks is the turnaround time for acceptances.

I contacted the admissions office about 3 weeks after my interview because we were told on the interview date that we could expect to hear back in 2 weeks. When I talked to the office by phone I was told that the wait could be 6-8 weeks from the time of my interview. I guess they really got bogged down at some point between my interview and the date I expected to hear back.

Eek...I was there 10/5...hmmm... Guess I should give them a call tomorrow? Or do they not do it chronologically? Ack, now I be worried!

Interviewed on 10/10, heard back with a post-interview hold via snail mail dated 10/23. It was about a week earlier than Dr. Foxwell's estimate.

Good luck, OP. I'm sure that you should've heard something by now. Even if they're stuck on your app like they were/are on mine, you should've gotten a notice. I'd go ahead and call to make sure you didn't miss a correspondence.

I interviewed 10/31... Should I have heard already?

I'm not sure what their entire protocol is for notifying people of decisions (whether good or bad), but I interviewed the same day you did and heard just over 3 weeks later.

Good luck, your app looks really strong. I'd be surprised if they didn't want you.

Well, that doesn't look too good for me  Guess we'll see what happens...

Is calling really going to do anything?

One of my interviews went really well I thought... the other one was just mediocre...

That's pretty much how I felt. I think I connected very well with one of my interviewers, but at the same time I wondered if she was just trained to give off that vibe or something. My second interviewer was nice, but not very animated and there wasn't anything too special about it I guess.

Well hey it worked out well for you regardless 😉

i was accepted a week after my interview....there doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern

Don't take this the wrong way, but are you an underrepresented minority? It seems that at several schools, URMs are having a much quicker turnaround time for acceptances than everyone else.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, Koko. Maybe I'll get to see you there next year. Your application still in limbo post-interview?
Sure is. I'm thinking about sending in another update but I think I should let them relax for now and renew my campaign after the holidays... or maybe not.

Well, i gave them a call (because while I was interviewing, Dr. Foxwell said we should call if we hadn't heard within a month), and they said I should "definitely hear something by the week of the 17th" and that a decision regarding my file hadn't been made yet. So I guess it's not reviewed purely chronologically.

Nice! Still hope for you!

Yay! That's practically next week + processing time. Keep us posted! Or I guess your MDapp would let us know too... 🙂

I will! Haha, the mdapps is as much for my parents as anybody else. This way they know what's going on without asking me every day or so (which slowly drives me crazy). I mean, they don't really care that much whether I become a doctor or not, they're just nosy parents 😛

Oh geez. That's such a good idea. My parents and I finally got over a spat about how irritating it is to have them more worrierd/paranoid than I am. If I had any updates, I'd give it to them. Eesh.

nope....not URM and OOS too....lucked out i guess

Hey guys, part of the process is how long it takes to get the write-up from your interviewer. Despite attempts by Dr. F to encourage everyone to do this as soon as possible, its not always the quickest of turnarounds. 🙁 Also you're correct that there doesn't seem to be a pattern. I never figured it out myself. The Admissions Office has lost a couple of key personnel in the past year (they passed away) who had been part of the process for a long time. They have new people in those positions of course, but its basically impossible to recreate the experience of 10-15 years in a few months on a job. So some days it is smoother than others, or at least that is my perception. Take heart and don't despair, they are working hard to let you know where you stand. Good luck!

I want Koko to be at my school next year. He/she is the cutest little kitty. I think it would look really cute to have a kitty sitting in Taylor lecture hall, taking notes with its furry little paws on a laptop, and mewing questions to the professors.

You've officially been studying for this exam too long.

Sigh. I know. LS, let's quit med school, sell our houses, buy a boat, and sail to the Caribbean. We can set up a fruit stand there and make a decent living, and spend the rest of our lives sleeping in hammocks on the beach, dancing all night to island music, drinking fruity umbrella drinks, and being fanned with large palm fronds by scantilty-clad, sun-kissed, muscular native men. Plus, extra bonus - no more Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Deal. Except after speaking with my father-in-law about their trip to Cancun for Thanksgiving, I think we could make more money renting out golf-carts with special wheels for cruising up and down the beach and around resorts that are really spread out.

Koko doesn't meow questions. She knows all the answers already.

It was pretty smart of me to let her interview for me too. I think Dr. Foxwell was so taken aback by her sleek furriness that he signed the acceptance letter right there and but lost it since then...

To place a cat smart enough to enter med school on hold. What a joke.

So I think I got put on Hold?

I received a letter saying that they have yet to make a decision whether to accept, reject, or waitlist me and that I am still under active review...

Sorry to hear! But I'm so glad that someone else got that letter. I couldn't possibly be the only one, I kept telling myself.

I have no idea what the letter really means, though. The website FAQ says ppl placed on hold after the interview need to wait for all interviews to be completed and will likely be put on the waitlist in the end.

The letter, however, says active review in several places.

The receptionist wasn't sure how often we'd be reviewed but assured me that the hold isn't "indefinite."

Congrats on your acceptances, BTW. Weird that UMB wouldn't accept you out-right. Your app seems fine.
