Dat breakdown 5/15/12

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nope. It doesn't ruin it since it is still above cutoffs. Definitely speak to schools to make sure they don't care.

Everything else is just perfect!

As ushaseos said you should be just fine with the RC!
Great Job!

And nice comprehesive breakdown! I'm sure others will find great use of it as you have benefited from other's breakdowns.

If it's cool with you I'd love to add it to the list I've been compiling past few months on my blog.

CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS!!! You did amazing!!! I honestly don't think that RC is going to hurt. From what I understand, that's above the "cut-off" mark and your other scores are very, very solid. All your hard work has paid off! You're set with those scores! All of your other scores were 21+! Great job!!! 😀

njohns, for some reason i thought I had already wrote on your thread. Sorry for the delay, congratulations!! I think your scores are solid and like everyone said it's above the cutoff so I think you'll be fine! Congrats again

You did well. Do not worry so much. Some schools do not even weigh RC very high.

dude great scores! like everyone said, the RC seems to be above cutoff so you should be OK esp with your solid science scores!

the bolded part in reference to practice tests...i guess i [was] planning on doing what youre basically saying not to and saving the practice tests for the end....im about 18 days out and was going to do some review for the next 2 days and decided ill start simulated a test with qvault sections + crack PAT ...u think thats sufficient or do you recommend just taking the topscores sooner (i was going to save the topscores for toward the end followed by the ADA 09 last since it has no solutions)....ive finished destroyer 3 times and got 95%+ right this time but i was starting to remember some too so i wanna give it a break before i do it a 4th and hopefully final time....so basically i figured i should get into qvault to exposure to some new problems...what you think?

Thanks JonLee and go ahead! And thank you everyone!

To 8586:
I think you should definitely go ahead and start getting some practice tests in. It's really just up to you which ones you want to do now versus right before test day. Personally I think it might be a better idea to save one or two topscores until right before because it is probably the best simulation you will have. But definitely not a deal breaker if you don't. I don't know anything about qvault chemistries, but the bio is good and RC i think is good practice too. So ya, making your own test using that and CDP would definitely work.
I will say though I definitely think you need to put Destroyer down. You are done with what it can offer you. IF you feel like you really have to go thru it again than be smart about it and only go thru the chemistries you missed or concepts you're weak on and only read the solutions for bio or something. The qvault bio is probably way more effective than destroyer. When is your test?

thanks for the response..im starting qvault today in a couple minutes after breakfast and anxiety is setting in lol..im nervous as its my first timed condition test and pretty much my first sets of questions away from destroyer and a few chads quizzes so i really hope im not shocked by anything...gunna see what my studying has done for me :-/....

yeah i think ill be saving at least 2 top scores for towards the end...i have a notebook of all the ones i had trouble on the 2nd run thru destroyer and went over those yesterday but i wanna make sure to reinforce the other concepts in it later on too..maybe ill just go through it quickly that 4th time...i was originally thinking 3 days but hopefully i can browse through or something to just reinforce concepts...how did you feel destroyer prepared u for the chemistries?

and can you post a comparison of the PAT sections on CDP compared to the real thing in respects to difficulty?

my test is june 8 :scared:

And also if you read the may test takers thread results you can get an idea of my schedule leading up about 2 weeks prior. It sounded like all of us were doing the same thing. Practice test every other day. And cramming stuff on off days. I highly recommend this approach.

right now im basically simulating a test with the full qvault until friday (timed and everything but not back to back yet like the actual)...saturday im going over all my genchem notes for the day, and sunday all my ochem notes for the day....monday-wednes (28-30th) maybe thru destroyer for a final time but debating this ..or i may just reread my kaplan and cliffs notes..then the 31st to 6th (thinking topscore, ada 09, qvault, review day, topscore, topscore, review day) practice tests everyday pretty much and one day off on the 7th before my test on the 8th........what u think of this? when u say cramming on off days - do u mean pretty much review? and when u guys do practice tests, do u just do the test n review the test for the day or more too?

and everyones got me worried bout the hole punching now :/...i thought CDP's was brutal compared to anything i saw and then read in a bunch of threads that its harder than the DAT's, which gave me relief...but lately im seeing that recent test takers are all saying its similar or even harder than CDPs

Sounds good to me, but I believe you will inevitably run out of time. So...I would prioritize the practice exams. And yes, I mean cram/review. For instance, I would just try to get a more and more concise set of review notes/notecards each time I went thru them. I mainly had notecards. So I would basically toss them aside when I felt like I had that notecard down. It would depend on if I would do more after the test. I would usually try to review the test I had just taken the same day, then add the things I missed to my concise set of notes. But by this point your brain will be pretty much fried. So do something like PAT or bio notes or something if you have anything left. Hole punching on CDP is definitely not unreasonable for something that may appear. I don't remember mine being very hard, but I also didn't think CDP was hard either. Like I said, try to do a CDP/day. And it may be helpful if you view the solution for hole punching on CDP then you'll visualize how to mentally fold it in your head. Hope this helps!

if worse comes to worst i CAN delay another week which i really dont want to ....basically im studying 7-7...relax till about 10 and then review until 12 ....may be cutting that relaxation time out now that im in the last 2 weeks though...

as for hole punching, ughh its killing me ..i always found it easy but i guess cuz i had only seen kaplans...i jus stare at it now and am so confused..i counted up 23 minutes on the last one i took on just hole punching and only got 67% right..i think i may have to start doing it last bc its eating up so much time (first two times it ate up a lot of time but i got 80% and 100% right so idk)....the explanations on CDP dont seem to help me much..im gunna try taking square sheets of paper and physically hole punching bc something needs to be done :-/

Yeah, idk if it's worth it to ya, but I thought Achiever's explanations were really clear cut and I'd imagine that would help you for sure. Maybe something to look into if you postpone.

On a side note, does anyone know how they do AA? Is TS included? Just curious..Thanks!

AA includes TS (Bio, GC, OC) + QR and RC. Pretty much everything except PAT.

so did you learn a good amount of info from Achiever and its solutions? i decided to steer clear of achiever after hearing about how hard it is and am scared of the confidence killer 🙁 lol...so elected to stick to qvault, topscore, ADA and maybe KBB....were you able to learn well from Topscores solutions as well?

I want to say Chad's video is not enough for chem and oc
there are alot of things that he doesn't cover
highly recommend read textbook also.

Well, you method of preparation definitely worked because you received great scores. Do you think doing problems from previous DAT exams (2007-2010) would help?
