For any TX resident out there…please help.

Can someone please tell me how TMDSAS confirms your residency status? If it's just a bunch of questions on a "residency quiz", couldn't anyone just put yes to everything and become a TX resident? When I called, TMDSAS said they don't require any documentation…then how do they know for sure you are a Texan?!

There are specific statutes that determine Texas residency, and there are defined rules for instate tuition:

I'm not sure how they confirm it, but it would not be in anyone's best interest to lie about it (I'm sure they can figure it out based on what you write in your TMDSAS app). Like @Danbo1957 listed, those links show how to become a resident and how you need to qualify (I am from the North East, but I became a Texas resident after I graduated from college).
