Given my bizarre love of data and the length of time since this information was last compiled (2 years) I thought it would be fun (?) to dig up the most recent MCAT / GPA data for matriculated students at osteopathic schools. I threw COMLEX pass rate data in there when it was easily accessible, which was not often. If anybody wants to provide updates / better sources / etc just PM me and I will edit the list. At the bottom I ranked schools according to LizzyM score where data was available.

Surely this information should be taken with caution, given that: 1) some data is current, while some is quite old; 2) sources are not always the school itself; 3) numbers are only one part of the big picture and DO programs especially take into account other aspects of an application. Regardless, since this information can't be found in the AACOM Info Book, I thought it would be helpful to some people. Enjoy!

Interesting stuff. PCOM and KCOM at 16 & 18, respectively, tarnishes the validity of the whole 'LizzyM' (what the heck is that?) business but any info is good info, nonetheless.

Great thread, I have often found myself wondering what the current/most recent stats are, but have been too lazy to check.

Mega, I think KCOM is more interested in well rounded students and I think their location can make them a lot less desirable to those with other options. I also think PCOM weighs instate above stats. I see some lower stats people accepted to PCOM, but they are usually instate or at the very least in the region. I don't know why, because I'm sure a lot of people would love to go to school and live in Philly, but I'm guessing fewer of the OOS/OORegion practice there when they are done.

Nice work collecting all those stats, another stat that always interested me was the percentage of applicants accepted and then the percentage of applicants who enrolled. I saw LECOM near the bottom of the LizzyM score but it cheered me up to see their applied/accepted/enrolled stats

LECOM-E
6623 applied, 1484 interviewed, 762 were accepted, 421 enrolled

So 22% of applicants get an interview.

If you're selected for an interview, 51% are accepted (11.5% total acceptance rate). (762/6623)
Finally, 55% enroll (421/762) (Only 6.3% of total applicants wind up being accepted and enrolling).

Made me appreciate how fortunate I was to be accepted and made me realize the sheer difficultly of getting into medical school (stat wise). It would be interesting to see all the other schools breakdowns, especially the % of students that are accepted and matriculate. I think that would be one of the most telling stats for how desirable a school is to applicants.

First of all, RESPECT. Well done. Thank you for taking the time to do that. I will try to add what I know

Western U-COMP (c/o 2014):
Applied: 4200
Secondaries Offered: 1500
Interviews: 600
Acceptances Given: 440
Enrolled: 208

PCOM and KCOM at 16 & 18, respectively, tarnishes the validity of the whole 'LizzyM' (what the heck is that?)

LizzyM is a school admin / SDN superhero who came up with a way to answer "what are my chances" questions based on a comparison of personal GPA / MCAT to a school's average for matriculated students. She has this to say about the usefulness and limitations of the formula:

Let me add that the Lizzy score and LizzyM score is not meant to tell you "what are my chances" but to help you select a group of schools that will maximize the probabilty that you will get interviews and offers from schools where you will be academically challenged. Schools will tell you that the "whole package" matters but if you have a gpa 0.4 below average AND an MCAT 4 below average, it is unlikely that anything else in your application is going to mitigate the below average stats, you may be offered admission there but it is a long shot.

Too often I see applicants who choose only top tier schools that have average stas far above their own. The Lizzy score can help an applicant choose some mid-tier or lower tier schools where their odds of admission will be greater than at Harvard/Hopkins/WashU, etc.

It would be interesting to see all the other schools breakdowns, especially the % of students that are accepted and matriculate. I think that would be one of the most telling stats for how desirable a school is to applicants.

Agreed. This is another glaring omission from the AACOMAS info book. If you find it, I will add it!

I found a webpage posted Nov 2010 that has COMPLEX pass rates. They aren't official - it was a student who found them all through websites and blogs, so you can take them with a grain of salt. I am not sure what step of the COMPLEX these are for either.

Here is a list of the pass rate on the comlex at most osteopathic institutions in the United States. These values are to be used as reference only, as they are only estimates compiled by members of StudentDoctor.net.

The link appears to be nonfunctional, so I won't add these numbers to my original post... but thanks for posting anyway! I'm sure the current COMLEX pass rate data are out there *somewhere* for the majority of schools... it would just require a lot more digging than the GPA / MCAT data. Perhaps over the holidays, if I get really bored or drink too much egg nog, I will embark on that journey...

I was having trouble with it too...the only way I could get it to work was when I pushed "cached" on google (where it highlights your search words in the document). No big deal at all - I just figured I'd throw it out there. Thanks for making the original post! It was very helpful!

This is good stuff OP. I even think this should/could be a sticky for the next year...
