I know that peptidyl transferases works along with ribozymes and help in the formation of peptide bonds during translation. So, I am thinking that it has to be found in the ribosomes.

I am confused about this statement (from the explanations to one of the questions)

"The enzyme peptidyl transferase is responsible for the formation of peptide bonds during translation. And like the uncharged tRNA molecules, peptidyl transferase is never bound to the ribosome itself, and would only be found in association with the whole ribosome, not its individual subunits."

So if it is not found in the subunits, then where is it stored prior to initiation of translation? The ribosomal subunits only come together during translation and exist apart as separate subunits the rest of the time.

I think that explanation is wrong. From what I understand, the ribosomal peptidyl transferase is found in the large subunit.
