Came 40 min late to an exam, received a 0, failed course, and now I'm being dismissed

Why were you late?
Did you read the syllabus? Attendance policy in your handbook?

I don't know, why not allow them to take the exam without extra time? They just hurt themselves with less time to complete the exam. All that matters is what is in the handbook, however.Yeah that super sucks but also seems valid ngl
Man, that's a terrible way to tank your class ranking.
We had someone in our class checked himself into the hospital one time rather than be late for an exam.

Need to know why you're late.Basically the title of this thread. I have 3 days to appeal this decision. Does anyone have any advice?
I had a personal unavoidable issue that caused me to be unable to access my study materials for 4 days. This situation left me with only 2 days to study. The part where I messed up is that I came into the exam 40 min late to use that time to study more. I felt like I could do this because the proctor for my last exam told me that they were going to be lenient on the late exam policy because we were D1 students. They gave me a 0, failed me in the course, and gave me an integrity violation for going to a second proctor who ended up letting me take the exam.
My situation is further complicated because I failed another course in the same semester, and as a result, I am being dismissed from my school. If it wasn't for this late exam situation, the most that would've happened to me is remediation for this other course.

Ouch. You already had a course failure... you needed to toe the line tightly. Yes, it feels like it's trivial, but trivial things matter in professional school academia. I'm sorry you got dismissed for it. If you have a personal issue, you can beg the dean for mercy, but two strikes usually get you in hot water. Read the syllabus carefully for due process and what you can do to appeal the dismissal.I had a personal unavoidable issue that caused me to be unable to access my study materials for 4 days. I was 1 hour late into my 3 hour psychomotor for my D1 year for dental anatomy class. I was automatically given a zero. We only had 3 psychomotor exams for this class so I failed the class by default. I overslept and that wrecked my GPA for that semester. Learned my lesson and never overslept again.
Dental school is a brutal place, there is no remediation or counseling. They go straight for the jugular. This isn’t how med schools are which is ironic.
But to everyone’s point in this thread, you have to adhere to the rules laid out in the syllabus. Consider your syllabus like a work contract, you violate it then you can be fired. Though it shouldn’t be like this, this how dental schools treat their students.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. Feel free to PM me if you want to speak further

Know you’re not the only one that’s failed a course and do your best to appeal or make drastic improvements from here on. I missed an a final exam and failed that course but made it through and life’s great now. It can be tough because you know all the faculty are talking about you and watching you but keep your head up and just do your best

That's a mesiolingual prep on #8. You prepped the wrong surface.I would like to add this:
They gave me a 0 on my class 3 DL preparation and told me that I worked on the wrong surface as their reasoning.
I'm pretty sure I worked on the right surface if this picture shows the correct surface.
