Hey guys, been doing primary care at a FQHC for about 7 years now. I do a ton of procedures daily in addition to seeing many primary care and urgent care like visits.

Recently been interested in opening an Urgent care with a buddy of mine. Any experiences or opinions on this? Any tips or things to look into for this? I am in California for reference.

I keep hearing that a busy UC is a really really good business

Thank you guys

Many different ways to run an UC. Most have PA/NPs. Break even about 10ppd. Hit 30ppd and you are doing well.

If you want to be financially successful, think like a businessman. Open one, make it successful, run it with PA/NPs. Docs are way too expensive.

Once you figure how to make one run well, opening the next is much easier with infrastructure already in place. Rinse, repeat, and now you have a successful business.

Im in Texas, I have no idea about Cali but cost of running a business/staffing likely much higher. May need 15ppd to break even.
