Current 3rd year student hear - applying for G-Surg next year. I was hoping that people could post their schools match lists (in either PDF or cut/paste format). People did that last year, and I'm very curious to see where various programs are sending their students. Thanks!

If you're talking about under Medicine...no. In Nashville, Univ. of TN has a Medicine residency at Baptist Hospital.

don't have Tufts' list in front of me, but Gen Surg matches included MGH (2), Mayo Clinic, Cornell, Mt. Sinai, UMass, UConn, Hosp. of St. Rapheal, Tufts-NEMC.

1 Neurosurgery at UVM

remember some Ortho matches at UMass, BU (2), Yale-New Haven, Penn..

Uro: Einstein, Henry Ford, U Wisconsin, New Mexico

very different group of students than last year, think I'd have fit in better with last years' class (where 15 went into family practice).. ;)but nonetheless I am impressed by the overall list. let me know if you want to know any other specialities, I'll go look it up.

Very surprising that just one person is going into anesthesia

not really. very few people go into anesth because they like it -- mostly it's because of lifestyle and money. but yale students have an edge because of their school, so they can go for ophtho and derm instead.

It's only currently posted in hard copy form at the school. Should be online by Monday or so. If I remember, I'll post it.

I'm sorry i really have to respond to this very FALSE comment. .this is such a blatant untruth!! Actually it's only the very few that go into anesthesiology purely for lifestyle and money reasons--and they are the bitter ones, who btw stick out like sore thumbs from among the crowd of generally happy, fulfilled anes residents/attendings.

And all 4 of my classmates who are matching this year in anes, as well as one other gas-bound classmate taking a year off with me--ALL love the field, and couldn't care less about the money/lifestyle.

Remember that.

money and lifestyle is pretty much the only reason why 4 of my close friends chose anesthesia over ophtho, surgery or whatever... you're kidding yourself if you think most people who go into gas are in it because they love it...

At my school pretty much all the residents and attendings I worked with loved the field (and that includes like at least 10-12 people), and were really gung-ho about it. There was really only one resident that chose it b/c he didn't really like anything else, and gas was the nicest lifestyle/money. I'm definitely not kidding myself!

Anyone Have Umass Or Georgetown Lists???

Agree.

I have a relative who is an anesthesiologist. He chose anesthesia because it is what he wanted to do. And he could have chosen pretty much any specialty, with the exception of ortho because he was not a US-citizen and would have been on the ortho waiting list (this was in the 70's). He did his anesthesia residency training at an Ivy League hospital and went on to a highly competitive anesthesia fellowship after he was finished with his residency, just to give you an idea of his capabilities.

This is just not in good form...

Wow phil. How about Stanford?
I don't have Stanford's 2005 list (I do have links from 2002-2004 though), but I do have the University of Florida's!

http://www.med.ufl.edu/oea/osa/Match2005/Match2005.htm

I'm compiling recent match lists and I'll be posting the compilation on pre-allo sometime soon. That's why I happen to have the links for quite a few. But post away and I'll add new links to the future thread as the match lists become available.

Lowly premed,

Phil :D

Here's the compilation I started in the Pre-Allo forum of match lists:

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=187352

I tried to keep it somewhat recent (nothing earlier than 2000, even though that's probably ancient). I will try to add any links to websites or any match lists you post on this thread on to the compilation.

Phil :)

The compilation is awesome Phil--thanks :)

Congrats to everyone who matched!
