What % matched in total?

sorry...i've never seen those numbers ever given out to us. i have no idea how many people(if any) had to scramble. i'd imagine its very little...our grads typically get a lot of respect in the match game. probably a lot moreso than GW grads(saw your other thread). i interviewed at GWU...I would argue that NU wins in every single department. I am obviously biased. I am sure others out there may have different opinions.

It wasn't a strong year for NU because of the new dean. No Hopkins matches, 3 or 4 at harvard/ucsf which are lower then usual. Radiology was very good though.

I seriously doubt that a new dean would interfere the ranking of students, where input from chairs and PDs play much more of a role.

Not in the rankings, some students in the class have said she's been less then helpful in advising and putting together the dean's letter.

I don't think Dean Nuzzarello had a huge impact on this so called "decline." When all is said and done, its the strength of the respective departments as well as the letters you get from them that will decide whether you get the interview or not. I agree that Dean Nuzarello is new, but I hardly think she made an "impact" for the worst. In my opinion the reason we have less ucsf/harvard/hopkins matches is because we had a lot more people go into the surgical subspecialties(where you step 1 score, grades, have to be top notch). I mean we had 10 people match into urology and 6 into ophthalmology, 4 into ENT and 3 into neurosurgery. most schools have like 1 or 2 in neurosurg, 2, 3, maybe 4 in uro, 2, 3, 4 in ophtho etc. You let a few of those people apply to medicine and gen surg and you have the "lost" harvard and ucsf matches in my opinion.

Does anyone have the Indiana University list?

It's always hard to point to any one thing. But a lot more people went into peds this year then usual also, and it wasn't a great match. The increase in optho matches was impressive to me.

How did you get this info? I was told the NRMP has not given out this information in several years. Our dean told us that anyone that claimes to have this info was full of poop.

anyone have 2006 match for gwu?

I only care about surgery matches for my school, Columbia:

Ortho Surgery: 11
General Surgery: 18
Neurosurgery: 9
Plastic Surgery: 4

This is why we're called the "College of Surgeons and Surgeons"

Where did the Stanford newsletter get that data? I am calling BS because the NRMP even says they do not publish that data. Maybe, assuming all students are completely honest about how far down their list they matched (which I doubt), they can figure this out for their own students, but there is no way they can know the national averages unless they are using data published years ago.

Anybody have stats for Oregon Health and Sciences? Thx

Hey Gafft, can you post the rest of the Columbia P&S 2006 match list? I'm interested to see how they did in other areas...thanks!

Firstly, this guy is a gal.

And in response to the above, that whole piece was written by the Dean of the School of Medicine, so I wouldn't take it as BS too quickly!
