What is so intriguing about Pharmacy. Could someone please describe (as thorough as possible) what pre-pharmacy students must take in undergrad, and also WHAT DO PHARMACISTS DO? Thanks!
Also...is pharm school pretty competetive? What kind of GPA are we talking about here so that one could get accepted?

The FAQ thread in prepharmacy forum will answer your questions thoroughly and this website: www.aacp.org has great details on the several careers paths a pharmacist can take.

In future, when you show that you have done absolutely no research on your own, people do not always like to help you or answer your questions. Google is out there and walking into a local pharmacy and inquiring about a job shadow is an option, an option I think you should look into if you really are curious about the profession.

Yes, I would definitely recommend--if you ever become serious about going to pharmacy school--getting a job at a pharmacy so that you can better decide if pharmacy will be right for you. I believe this is an excellent way of really understanding what your job will be as a pharmacist as well as seeing whether you will enjoy this profession.

No, everyone gets accepted.

Seriously, you are pre-dental and you don't know what a pharmacist does?

Well, I had heard the pharmacists count pills all day, but...I didn't believe that. So when you guys say "count pills all day"...you mean...ONLY count pills? And I have already been to aacp.org, and it didn't help. Also, the pre-reqs are hard to understand for the schools. They are all over the place.

1yr physics
1yr biology w/ lab
1yr general chem
1yr organic chem
1 semester anatomy AND/OR
1 semester physiology
1 semester calculus
1 semester microbio
1 semester biochem
1 semester cell/molecular biology

..ofcourse each school may have variations but this is a general list of most(?) schools

Really????

Between aacp.org and the FAQ section almost any question can be answered. AACP is very helpful, great breakdown of what schools require what for pcat lors, how many years, profiles of schools, lots and lot of info about pharmacy profession with tons of links to take you to other consultant, nuclear etc sites to learn more. You have to go beyond the homepage. I assume you are at college somewhere, why not go talk to an advisor and see what they have to say about prereqs, shoot an email their way. Or go to schools you think you would be interested in and look at their prereqs page.

There is also a wonderful thing called google, it's free too!

there is way more than just counting pills all day. There are probably like 50 different jobs for people with pharmD degrees. look on the Pfizer website

I kid you not. I count pills all day. My neighbor dentist looks at teeth all day.

Then after dinner, we sit on our porch and wave at cars driving by.

I think it might be a good idea for you to get a job as a tech or just volunteer so that you familiarize yourself. It's gonna be hard to answer the essay question, "why do you want to be a pharmacist" when you don't even know what a pharmacist does.

Don't you have a pharmacy or science adviser at your school that you can come to for questions about the pre-req? I rarely ever go to them since they don't really know what they're talking about, but it's a start. They might point you to the right direction.

Uh...a simple "wrong" would have been good, but that's fine....Some of you guys can be really rude. This IS A WEBSITE FOR PEOPLE TO COME ASK QUESTIONS...DON'T COME ON HERE AND FLAME OR GIVE ME A RESPONSE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY QUESTION.
