Inlay Onlay

There is a restoration in front of you on table.
How will we come to know if it is MOD Cast Gold Inlay or MOD Cast Gold Onlay.
What will decide if it is Inlay or Onlay?
Thanks
ASB
If cusp tips are involved it is an onlay
I know this is a sidebar, but it's absolutely inconceivable to me that you could be a practicing dentist anywhere and not know the difference between an inlay and an onlay. What do dental schools in India teach? There is a restoration in front of you on table.

I have come across a few of your posts a couple of times on this forum and they sounded pretty reasonable and sensible to me. However, this one makes me think otherwise. And by the way the whole idea of having these forums is to help each other , so think a bit harder before writing anything next time. So, If you cant help then keep your stupid opinions just to yourself.
Look, guy. I offered my opinion, plainly & civilly, that a "dentist" who can't tell two basic restorations apart shouldn't be given a license to practice. You might disagree with me, and that's your prerogative, but beyond that it's tough cookies. You don't get to tell me to shut up just because my suggestion that a dentist should possess minimal degrees of knowledge and technical competence strikes uncomfortably close to home for you or your friends.I have come across a few of your posts a couple of times on this forum and they sounded pretty reasonable and sensible to me. If you think I'm full of crap, that's your prerogative too, but don't just sit there complaining about how unfair I'm being. The job of these tests is to make you know what you're doing in order to take good care of live patients. Go out and nail them, and we both win. Otherwise, the tests are just doing their job properly.

There was nothing plain and civil about the way u expressed your opinion. There's a fine line between being sarcastic and in being insulting. In this case however, you did cross the line. And let me tell you the reason why I am saying so. Whatever you wrote, was not aimed at any single individual but was for all the dentists from India. Let's not discuss the knowledge of dentists practicing in any particular country (US or India) coz even you know that stereotypes are hardly true. Let me rephrase, stereotypes are never true.
I am certainly not out here to argue about the need and necessity of the exams. I agree that they ensure that quality dental care is being delivered by dental professionals. And in case your last comment was specifically for me, let me just clear here that I have passed both the exams.
If you still think that your comment was well justified , well there's no point in arguing any further over this.
Think? who? hell no way!...If you still think that your comment was well justified , well there's no point in arguing any further over this.
