1) 3L * 0.075M = .225 moles Mg(NO3)2 = .225 moles Mg
2) 0.225 moles Mg = 0.225 moles MgCO3?
3) 0.225 moles MgCO3 * 84.32 amu = 19ish g's? :rolleyes:

This is a common ion effect problem.
Total molar concentration of Mg+2 [from Mg(NO3)2] = 0.75
Then

[Mg+2][CO3-2]=4.0 x 10^-5
[CO3-2]=4.0 x 10^-5/0.075
[CO3-2]=5.33 x 10^-3
since [CO3-]=[MgCO3], then
g of MgCO3= (5.33 x 10^-4)(84.32)= 0.0449g.53/Liter
for 3 L = .0449 x 3= .1347

You could simply the calculations.

Since you need 300 ml of 0.001M solution and we have a 0.5 M HCl, then

M1V1=M2V2
(300)(0.001)=0.5V2
V2= 0.3/0.5=0.6ml

Ans: D, also estrogen but not the key hormone, progesterone is the key hormone...the key word here is KEY haha

Which is the stronger base?
a) KBr
b) NaI
c) NaF
d) Na2S

Ans: D, these are all salts formed from either weak acids or strong acids, as we know weak acids give rise to strong conjugate bases but the trick is between choices C & D, NaF is the conj base of HF weak acid and so is Na2S which is HS^1-, so you just need to know which one is a weaker acid...and its HS^1- making choice D correct....

What is the volume of .5M HCl if it is added to 50ml of 3M NaOH to make the solution pH=3?

I think I screwed up on this one, its supposed to be 250.6ml because you get 300.6 but you have to subtract 50ml of the NaOH, right???

yea basically because they are cone bearing....its a protective mechanism against animals...so their seed are dispersed by wind...angiosperms think about bee's they carry pollen to other flowering plants...

and how did you approach g chem section, I just did a sample test on ADA ( only g chem section). is test a lot like that or more information or difficult concepts?
 
I have no idea how gchem is, ive been hearing its alot more conceptual but maybe someone who has taken the test recently can help us on that and hwat to study...ANYBODY OUT THERE???? HELP...thanks

i had no idea when i was on tht book and i missed about 90 percent of

the question on destroyer.

damn, and also kaplan subject tests kicked my ass.

yea ive gone through kaplan subject test for the class...the last one was hard but the first two i was getting 80% or so...they are tough

ok i've read that High levels of estradiol inhibit the FSH stimujlating center of the hypothalmus.....so i know that FSH is secreted in the anterior pit. but the fsh releasing factor is made in the hypothalmus.....which goes to the ant. pit to tell them to release the fsh which causes a rise in the estrogen......so for negative feed back sys to work wouldnt it inhibit the hypothalmus?
 
I think its one of those tricky questions where you have to think hard...yes a high rise in estrogen from the corpeus luteum stimulates the Hypothalmus to inhibit the anterior pituitary via a hormone sequence, BUT the gland that is being inhibited itself is the anterior pituitary...the hypothalmus isnt being inhibited its just used as an intermediary between anterior pituitary and the corpeus luteum, neg feedback manner...

B= antibodies= globular

and C I wikipedia-ed and is also globular!
 
Can someone please common ion effect problems like this one. I do not have anything that I can find in Kaplan, my text book does not have an example like the problem here. Also, doc toothache and osimsDDS have two different ways and two different answers anyone mind explaining?
 
ok, so common ion effect is when you have a solution of lets say MgCO3 and and your adding to the solution MgNO3, what is the common ion?? Mg of course...so the Ksp or solubility will decrease because you already have the same ions in solution...
